Notes
Spelling note: Last week I passed out a Words to Learn list where students will keep track of words that were missed on the spelling test. Please continue to spell these missed words. Sitton spelling repeats and “recycles” past words on the tests. It is important to study both the list of 10 words that I give in additon to any words on the Words to Learn list in their OWL binders.
*On Friday of last week, we had our first leadership team meetings. Each group developed a mission statement for their team, got their picture taken, and got to know each other. We will be meeting every other week until November.
What We are Learning
Reading- We are doing an author study on Cynthia Rylant. We looked at her website and learned about what inspires her writing. We read the books, In November and a Night in the Country and compared and contrasted the two books.
Spelling- We will have the Unit 3 test on Friday.
Math- We are finishing our measurement module. We are practicing measuring word problems. The test will be this Thursday.
Social Studies- We practiced communicating with a talking stick. We learned about how important it is to not only talk, but also to listen carefully to what others have to say. We played the game of “Telephone” to learn about how people can miscommunicate.
