What We are Learning
Reading and Writing- We wrote our final “Small Moments” stories on Friday. I am so proud of how much they have improved their writing! They are becoming quite the little writers. These will be checked and then we will publish them. We studied syllables this week and learned about open and closed syllables. We also reviewed consonants and vowels (both short and long sounds).
Spelling- We will have the Unit 8 test on Friday. This upcoming week we will focus on “r-controlled” words. These are words that have an “or, ir, ar, er, ur “ spelling.
Math- We are finishing our Module 3 on place value this week. Our next unit is focusing on Addition and Subtraction strategies.
Science- We learned about clouds and wind this week. The kids made a cloud project with cotton balls with the three main types of clouds- cumulus, cirrus and stratus. We also made a project with the different weather tools a meterologist uses.
