Notes
*All parents are scheduled for conferences! Thank you so much- we look forward to meeting and speaking with you about your child’s progress so far this year! You will receive your child’s first Achievement Record at the conference.
*Ask your student about Rusty. He is a guidance counselor that we listen to at the end of every day. He teaches us about appropriate social skills. We have had some good classroom discussions from his one minute videos. The kids have also memorized how he ends every video. See if they can share it with you!
What We are Learning
Reading and Writing- We are reading and writing Haiku poetry this week. We are learning about syllables. We are continuing to write personal narratives or “small moments” stories.
Spelling- We will have the Unit 7 test on Friday.
Math- We are focusing on place value concepts. We practiced making numbers with place value blocks and place value disks.
Science- We learned about the water cycle. We read a book called Cloud Dance that was a little bit of poetry and science!
We did a science experiment where students used cotton balls (clouds) and added drops of water. They tried to see how many drops of water their cloud could hold before it rained (the water dripped.)
